I spent a weekend camping at Henry Coe state park. As soon as I arrived in the park I did the Headquarters cache, but I was suprised to find few caches within easy hiking distance of the parking lots.
Buckydef and I headed out from headquarters and hiked north on the Monument trail until we ran into Hobbs Road. We took that all the way to Frog Lake, went a little further to Doc's Geo Cache V and then went back to Frog Lake and took the Flat Frog Trail back to the park headquarters.
I asked a park worker and they said that the trail wasn't named after any flat frogs, but was instead put in place as a flat way to reach Frog lake. It isn't exactly flat, but unlike the hobbs road it has an easy steady grade. Most casual geocachers will be able to do what I did in a few hours, many will take even less, and it's really very nice the whole way. I did see lots of mountain bikes on the trails, but no dogs - they're not allowed in the park.
The cache container is a cammo-taped PB jar, not a rock.
