Geocache Description:

Crumlin Cipher Cache #3

This is a Mystery/Puzzle cache. The coordinates of this cache are not the coordinates of the cachebox, but they will lead you to a convenient parking area.

Ever since the Vigenère cipher was broken, it has been unsafe to encipher messages using a recurring key. The only safe way is to use a key that is longer than the message. This type of cipher is often called a Book Cipher because one of the ways to do it is to use a page in a book as key, giving the first letter of each word a number.

The "Beale Cipher" is a famous ciphertext that is believed to lead to a buried treasure worth $20 million, but the key is lost and nobody have been able to break it yet.

The ciphertext below is enciphered using this method and the Puzzle is to decipher it with the key in order to get the plaintext leading to the cache. The Mystery is how to find the key. Unless you can crack the ciphertext, you will have to look for clues in other caches.

The key is a geocaching related statement archived on the internet and is therefore not likely to change.

The logbook contains keys to other caches in the CCC-series. I have decided to make it easier for you: If you can decipher this cache, you can now decipher the text here to obtain the keys without going to the cachesite first.
