Geocache Description:

A multistage cache in downtown Thessaloniki with a bit of history and sightseeing.

To do this multistage cache, you will first visit the statue of King Philip II of Macedonia at the starting coordinates. Look at the right sandal of the statue from behind; you will read a name and the years between which the statue was constructed in the format YYYY-ZZZZ. Subtract the second from the first to find how long it took to build the statue; from that amount, subtract 1 and call the result A (so A=ZZZZ-YYYY-1).

Now proceed to N 40 37.442, E 022 56.997, to the statue of Philip's son, Alexander the Great. There are two rows of spears around the statue. Call the number of the spears in the shorter row B, and call the number of the spears in the longer row C (C will be greater than B.)

The actual cache is a film canister, located at these coordinates:
N 40 37.5A7
E 22 C7.1B2

It is hidden under a bench in the park; the bench has concrete supports with hollows in them, and the film canister is in one of the hollows. A pencil is included but bring your own just in case.

When you are done, you can visit the archeological museum of the city, practically across the street from the cache.
