:) Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

bogleman: Well it was a fun cache but unfortunately I have decided to archive the cache. While hard to get to the final hiding location, the final hiding spot was not that secure. I searched the area within tossing distance and did not have any success. No litter or debris; just grew legs and walked away.

To those who had found it you really earned your smiley. Nice how technology has changed things. Before it was basic cell phones, GPS and Palm Pilot/PDA, compass, map reading and paper now you can do everything from your smart phone to include Google Earth views which help in planning your approach.

Geocache Description:

The listed coordinates are not the cache location, you must solve the code for the cache location :) The cache is hidden near the boundary line of the southern section of SGL 109. Approach the cache location from the south due to the fact that there is priviate property to the north (posted in some locations). If you enter from the north you do so at your own risk.

History of emoticons

I am not trying to take credit for anything other that providing some information for amusement purposes, if you get stumped or need a nudge drop me an email.

The smiley is something that seems to pop up everywhere. The smiley has been trademarked and copyright protected, there are animated smileys and the traditional smiley. Each smiley has it’s own special meaning and some mean nothing at all, Groundspeak even uses emoticons.

Have you ever wondered where the smiley came from, who was the first to use a smiley and the original meaning?

The terrain rating may or may not be appropriate depending on how you approach the cache location, you are on your own after that. I strongly recommend researching the area before you go after the cache (internet maps, ect) - follow the high ground the best you can. Should not be more than a 1.5 mile hike - round trip from the south. The area surrounding the cache location is not the nicest place in the world. You will have a challenge getting to it.

The prickers are huge and numerous and the swamp is thick and stinky. Once you are past that the going is very easy. Dress appropriately and bring the right gear.

Again if you forgot there is (sparsely) posted private property to the north of the cache location. Thank you and enjoy.
