You will need to do some descending to find this cache. This may be easier during the winter due to thinned plant growth. It is a short walk from a gravel pull-off along the Illinois River as you head towards Starved Rock State Park.
Hopefully the third times the charm. We replaced our cache in the same general area... only slightly better hidden. Your gps will still bring you to the spot. It is near a great pull-off and muggles are often present so be very sneaky. This cache is in an ammo box. If hunting during the WINTER you may want to bring binoculars and a camera as the gravel pull-off provides a spectacular view of migrating bald eagles (gone by March). We saw quite a few fishing, soaring, and fighting mid-air as we placed the cache. If you visit in FALL you may be lucky enough to see hundreds of migrating pelicans...YES! Pelicans:)You may want to plan a day trip to Starved Rock or Mattheisson State Park as they provide amazing scenery year-round. A thanks goes out to Team Rijon for their help in getting the cache restarted after the flood!
