318 Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

emptyvi: Because of an offer I received from the "EATC", a group of young cachers from this region, I decided to archive this cache. It was there for more than 6 years, which is, in my opinion, quite a long time.
So I, as mentioned above, accepted the offer from the "EATC", that mainly is, to archieve my cache in order to give them the opportunity to set up a new one there.
I think this makes sense, because I simply don't have the time to maintain 318 any longer.

Happy caching, emptyvi

P.S.: A link to EATC pendant will follow soon.

Geocache Description:

This cache is situated in Güssing, in the South of Burgenland.
You can go to Güssing by many different busses. The cache is available all the year, but the castle of Güssing is only opened from Easter Monday to the 31st of October, TUE-FRI, 10-17 o´clock!

I was to rate the difficulty as 2.5, but I rated it as 3.0, because the coordinates aren´t that exact for all stages! So, if you think the coordinates you calculated must be wrong....: They needn´t be wrong!
Park your car at N 47°03.367
E 016°19.453
Then leave the carpark and turn left at the cemetery follow the street until you are in the centre of Güssing. Then go to:

Stage1:

N 47°03.547
E016°19.349
You are here at a war memorial, on which a small cross is fixed. Under this cross
there are two dates. Take the crossfoot of the first one and call the result A. Do the same with the second date, but call the result B.

Stage2:

N2 = N1-B-8
E2 = E1+10*A+B-5
You are at a small, asphalted place. There is a
green sign, which shows you the
way to the castle of Güssing. Count all the letters
on the sign, the result is C.

Stage3:

N3 = N2-4*B-C
E3 = E2+(C+1)/2
After following the "path" up here, turn right
and follow this street for
app. 15 metres. On the left you should see another
green sign, showing the same
word like in Stage2. There is also an elevator with
a board, which tells
you the length of the elevator´s route, an the
difference in height. Call the length D
and he difference in height E.

Stage4:

N4 = N3+E-(C+1)/2
E4 = E3-D+A/5
Count the big holes on the right board and call the
result F.

Stage5:

N5 = N4+F-4
E5 = E4+F+D/24-100
You should be in front of a big door, now.
On the right there is another sign with a date on
it, in the last line. Take the
crossfoot of the year and call the result G.
By the way… This is the door which is closed if the
castle is closed. If it´s open
you can go in, visit the castle and enjoy the nice
view. P.S.: There is even a small
restaurant!
If you are in front of the door turn around . If you
are inside the castle, leave it on
the same way as you entered it. On the left there is
a small path. Go
down this path!

Stage6:

N6 = N5-5*G+2
E6 = E5+5*G+F/3
At this place there is a wooden rack (with
a roof). On that rack is an article fixed, which
tells you if the castle of Güssing is :
A – the oldest
B – the second oldest
C – the third oldest

castle of Burgenland.
Values: A = 5, B = 6, C = 7.

Select A, B or C and call it´s value H.

Stage7: THE CACHE

N7 = N6-5*H-1+A-B+4
E7 = E6+H+1+2*F-C-1

The cache originally contained:
2x cachenote
1x logbook
1x pencil
1x dice
1x pearl (from 9 summits - Burgenland)
1x dino
1x "the prisma-thing"
