Geocache Description:

This is a simple cache. Well. Simple to find once you reach the location.

I have walked these hills for many a year and never knew about Wholehope Still, This is a whiskey still that was in existence in the 1800. It probably sold illicit liquor to the infamous Slime foot pub further up the Coquet valley.

This is a plain, and simple cache, and is the first of a series that will go to make up the Cheviot whiskey still ramble, believe that you believe owt.

The cache is easy enough to find.. the challenge is getting to it. Access is by planning your route, and an understanding that a steep slope on the map IS a steep slope on the ground. In the summer it isn’t a gentle stroll and in the winter could be fraught with danger. Look at the map, plan your route, and be prepared for an adventure and hard slog.

If it looks vertical on the map then it IS vertical on the ground. How they ever got the whiskey out is any ones guess.

The cache is one of my usual pots with usual bits n bobs.

Enjoy the walk which aint a one in a park.
