This is a two part cache which will take you in the vicinity of Castle Hill ‘Motte and Bailey’ (N 53 22.219 W 2 22.864) which is a scheduled ancient monument. The Motte is easily discernible: it measures 6m high and is 40m wide at its base, tapering to 17m at the top. It was probably built by Norman barons around 1150 to defend themselves against unruly local Saxons, and potentially to defend themselves when they rebelled in 1173 against Henry II.
A convenient place to park the car is on Bow Green Road just north of its junction with Bow Lane (N 53 22.360 W 2 22.318). The published coordinates are for stage 1 which is a micro. It contains sufficient information for you to locate the final stage provided that you already know the years in which a) the Battle of Hastings was fought b) the Magna Carta was signed, and c) the coronation took place of Queen Elizabeth II. The final cache is a 1 litre plastic container. There are four stiles, the (preferred) 3rd one is at a dip in the road past the farm buildings.
