Welcome to The Louise Cameron Wells Art Museum
!!
This is a very small micro-cache, log only.
Please bring your own pen.
Please take time to enjoy the art museum and other nearby caches.
Located on South 17th Street
Extension in the southwest district of the City, The Louise Wells Cameron
Art Museum, the pinnacle of visual arts in Southeastern North Carolina, opened
its new facility in April 2002 and is located at the intersection of
Independence Blvd. and 17th Street in Wilmington. The Cameron Art Museum is the
only institution in the United States dedicated primarily to collecting,
preserving, and exhibiting the art of North Carolina.
The museum’s 10-acre campus also features
recently restored Confederate defensive mounds built during the battle of Forks
Road in the last days of the Civil War, which preceded the fall of Wilmington
and, soon after, surrender of the Confederate armies. The cache is near
one of these defensive mounds. Please take time to contemplate the words on the
plaque near the cache.
The cache is located approximately 10 ft from the plaque at a compass heading
of 248 degrees. See the hint for further help.
