The 18th in a series on "Lord of the Rings" theme is a pleasant 300m stroll beside the river, if its a warm day you may even have a paddle or swim in the cool waters of the 'Great River'. But beware of watching eyes as you retrieve the cache, orcs are often seen here, (you can see evidence of their presence).
At the Gladden Fields Isildur was killed by mountain Orcs and the Ring was lost and forgotten. A long time after, two friends, Deagol & Smeagol went fishing in a boat in the Gladden Fields. A great fish took Deagol's hook and pulled him in. He let go of the line when he saw something shining in the riverbed, holding his breath he grabbed it. When he got to the bank, Smeagol asked "Give us that Deagol my love, it's my birthday and I wants it". A fight followed and Smeagol strangled Deagol and took the ring and put it on his finger. The Ring gave him power to be invisible but it also consumed him so that he became despised and shunned, expelled from his family to wander in lonliness and eventually being given the name 'Gollum'.
