We used to
drive on I-80 just a mile or so east of Mahoney State Park and
wonder what that is they're building on top of the hill south of
the interstate. From the distance it looked like something they
started to build but never finished. Curiosity got the best of us
one day so we jumped off the Interstate to seek out this unfinished
structure. After taking a trek South toward Schramm State Park and
making a wide loop back to the West and to the North. We eventually
found it and we weren’t disappointed. This is one of the most
tranquil places we’ve ever been to and one that we visit quite
frequently. We wish to put a physical cache here eventually but
need to sell the Board of Directors on it first. Its also know as
the Church of the Traveler. The hours for the Shrine are Monday to
Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 12-5. Church service is at 10 on Saturday.
People have parked at the gate during closed hours and walked up
there, you just can't get into the visitors center or the chapel.

Shrine
The above
coordinates will get you to the parking lot. To get credit for the
find, take a picture of yourself with something on the site that
shows you’ve been there then post it to the web site. Some
suggestions are in front of or around the inside or outside of the
chapel, inside or in front of portions of the visitor’s center, the
garden area, etc. Try to show others in these photos of what they
might see at the shrine. For those that don’t have a camera, you
can just locate the smal rock that is in front of the statue of
Mary and email me the inscription or just its reference. Please
spend some time going through the place and go see the glass
etching in the church. We think you’ll enjoy it as we do.
