The Grand Union Canal links Birmingham to London with a waterway
which is 145 miles long and contains 166 locks. This cache is one
of a series to be found along or close to the
Hertfordshire/Buckinghamshire stretch of the canal.
This cache is a very short and simple offset. The
co-ordinates at the top of the page will get you to the start
point. Here you will find a Grand Junction Canal Company mile
marker. How many miles is it to Braunston? This number is
AB. There is a date on the plate at the bottom commemorating
Kenneth and Anne Duval. This is 19CD.
Now walk along the canal towards the nearest bridge. There is a
number on this bridge. This is number 1EE. Underfoot, the
bricks that make up the towpath bear a date (watch out for the
rogue odd date!). This is 19FG.
Now, in the usual manner, use the numbers you have gathered to
substitute into the following formula to obtain the cache
location.
N51º E(A-F).BDG W000º DB.AD(C/3)
