JUST ACROSS THE POND / WEST TO EAST Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

The Ax: We are so sorry to hear about Ruth. All our thoughts are with you on this side of the pond. It was great sharing this cache with both The Birders. I believe we were the first to come up with this concept.

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

This is a two-part, two person cache. The first part is located in the Stonebridge Waterfowl Preserve on the Wilton/Weston town line. The second part is located in a village in Berkshire, England which is 3,386 miles away!

This is how it works: First, you must locate Part One (see coordinates above)which is an ammo box containing a log book and the coordinates for the second and final cache.

Next, using this website, e-mail a geocacher in England and ask if he/she would be willing to find the final cache for you. Do not e-mail the coordinates until the geocacher has accepted (please e-mail only one geocacher at a time, allowing a reasonable period for response before contacting another person). Once your English partner has found the second cache and signed its log book, he/she must e-mail you confirming that the cache is complete. Finally, when you have received this confirmation, BOTH YOU AND THE ENGLISH GEOCACHER CAN LOG THE FIND. Please note the name of your partner in your log.

The English cache is an ammo box with a FTF prize (one star difficulty). It is located in an historic village which is mentioned in the Domesday Book. The village is also the home of a church which dates back to the 1700s where Charles Kingsley, a former rector and author of "The Water Babies", is buried.

This cache is a collaboration with "Birders" who have a similar cache in England, "Just Across the Pond / East to West (GCM5Q3). A possible partner could be someone who has found a Birders cache or one that is nearby. When you e-mail the English geocacher, you might suggest that they find part one of "Just Across The Pond / East To West" and send you the coordinates for the second and final cache which is located over here. You can post a note of your progress.

Parking for Part One is available in a small lot just north of Stonebridge Road on Newtown Turnpike (check out Micro-Walk Parts 3 & 4 is in this preserve). Good Luck!

NO TRAVEL BUGS CAN BE PLACED IN EITHER THIS CACHE OR THE "EAST TO WEST" CACHE DUE TO THE COORDINATES, I.E. IF YOU PLACE A TB IN PART 2 OF "EAST TO WEST", THE COMPUTER WILL THINK THAT THE TB IS IN ENGLAND.
