The New Forest was created by William the Conqueror as an area
where deer could be hunted. The medieval meaning of the word Forest
was that of a hunting area where the beasts of the chase could run
free. The New Forest is a mixed environment of woodland pasture,
heaths, bogs, coppices and plantations. Turf Hill Inclosure is a
conifer plantation, of which a large part was blown down by the big
storm of 1990, and that area has now been restored to open
land.

This cache is hidden under the
agreement between the Geocaching Association of Great
Britain and the Forestry
Commission in the New Forest. Please respect the terms of the
agreement. Park only at the recommended place, or at any other
marked car park. Do not do this cache, or any cache in the New
Forest, at night.
I suggest you park in Turf Hill car park, where you will find
yourself very near the co-ords at the top of the page. From there
the total walk is about half a mile each way on mostly level
ground.
At the given co-ords you will find a dark green metal sign. The
first year on the sign will give you ABCD. At the start of the
second column is a five character Roman numeral in brackets.
Written in the usual way it will give you EF.
The container itself is at:
N 50 57.(D+E)(B-F)(C+A)
W 001 4D.(F-E)(F+D)(A+D+E)
You're looking for a camouflaged 1.2 litre lock and lock
box.
