Geocache Description:

Moved slightly with NEW CO-ORDINATES. (oh and BTW... No nine foot, gill-breathing, web-footed creature from the 50's Classic monster movie was seen during the making of this cache. ie. Creature from the Black Lagoon... . Although I did kind of borrow the name). Not a lot of room in this one... so you'll need your own pen.

Story behind the location...
In the 70's, when this was more of a more rural area, two lagoons were dug here as a component in the treatment of sewage from the booming new sub-division being developed nearby. These lagoons were never used and over time nature has reclaimed them. The keen foresight of city planners a few years ago have taken advantage of these man-made "natural" habitats by adding excellent interperative walking trails where you can enjoy an abundance of wildlife.(and caches!)
As many times as I've been here, I've never visited this little out-of-the-way spot. While I stood here for a few minutes enjoying the serenity, I was soon joined by the local residents flying in from the other side of the lagoon for a visit. Enjoy.

The original cache was placed in 2004 when trading items were the standard thing to do and started with: tire pressure guage, mini lock & keys, Canada keychain caribiner, corn cob holders, pocket screwdriver disk, sidewalk chalk, cable ties, Canada pen, two rubbery amphibians and standard logbook with pencil and sharpener

It was mainly downsized to make it fit in better with the surroundings and keep it safe from non-geocachers. I was curious about
feeding wild ducks so I checked out Ducks Unlimited Canada.

If you care about ducks, do not feed them...
It increases the chances of negative human/wildlife encounters, reduces the ducks’ foraging instincts and can make them dependent on people for food.
Wild ducks need to eat the green foods that grow naturally in their environment in order to maintain good health and a normal lifespan. Their ability to fly and retain their natural instincts for survival depends entirely on the foods they eat. By feeding wild ducks you are promoting aggressive behavior as well as contributing to their early death, shortening their lives ten-fold.
