The coordinates above are of the control tower at Hanscom and were calculated using 2 vantage points a short distance away applying a little trigonometry, since I could not get close enough to the tower without being shot. While in the area, there are many interesting things to see in this historic region including the Minuteman National Park and visitor center ( N 42 26.992 , W 71 16.324 ).
As I was placing the cache, I noticed a plane flying directly overhead traveling in the general direction of the air force base. I had to move very quickly as I tried to estimate the heading of the plane. It passed over my parking spot first then over gate 38 then directly over the control tower almost a mile away. I calculated its heading to be exactly 36 degrees true. I went back to the cache location and when I looked up I saw a flock of geese flying directly above me. As I drove home east on Route 2A, I noticed that same flock of geese flying directly above the Midnight Riders monument ( N 42 26.936 , W 71 16.787 ) heading back to where they came from. Later that evening, I calculated their return flight path heading to be 303 degrees true. Curiously, the distance between the cache and the Midnight Riders monument is exactly 1 mile.
