Geocache Description:

Clans

This is our second cache in Clans, a little, very typical town in the Alpes Maritime.
We hope you'll visit this nice town and its surroundings, our caches are intended as a kinda teaser to discover this area between the Riviera and Mercantour.

You can do this one preferable by foot or MTB, we guess it could be done by car also but hey, don't call us when it gets damaged ok.
When you want to combine this one with our other Clans cache (The Clans Tunnel) it's very well possible by foot but it'll take a while, probably almost all day if you aren't a trained hiker and, don't forget these are mountains so it's steep sometimes.
At the end of this description you find instructions how to combine.

To make your walk as pleasant as possible it's not a bad idear to use a map of the area, the IGN map TOP25 3641ET will help a lot to explore the area, for this cache however you don't really need it. If you wanna combine both caches it could be handy. Not as good but also very usable and free is the folder you can get at the town hall with some nice walks, ask for "le guide de randonnees".
If wanted you can get more information about town and surroundings in the town hall (N43.59.696 E007.08.838) opened on weekdays from 08.00 am untill noon. On Saturday from 02.00 pm until 17.00 pm.

The coordinates on top are those of the village, on this spot you can leave your car, if it's full then follow the signs towards the other parking area.
Most of the town is forbidden, impossible by car. Towards WP1 you'll walk trough the nice little streets.

WP1
N43.59.589 E007.08.774

On this spot you'll find a nice chappel with inside some fresco's. Make sure you'll ook at them trough the tiny windows.
Also here a singpost indicating hiking routes. Find on this post the balise number and write it down where the number stands for AB.
By foot or bike you just follow the hiking trail, by car you'll have to findout yourself how to get to the next point.

WP2
N43.59.485 E007.08.792

A crossing here.
To get your final coordinates you'll have to look here for a number that looks like 14E2C where you'll have to take the real value of C.

Finally you'll find the cache hidden at :
N43.59.CA6 E007.09.B09
It's a small box in a plastic bag, it can only hold real small goodies.

After you found it (hopefully) make sure you walk a bit further on the "main" road and try to reach the water to see another very nice waterfall.
However, be carefull this water has a lot of power sometimes.
If you'll like a nice hike then it's a good idear t continue to our other Clans cache. Just walk further towards the next signpost (48, not 48a) and take there the narrow, sometimes steep but very nice trail towards "Pont Noir". This leads you to the road to "The Clans Tunnel"

Small note on cache maintenance: We don't live (yet) in the area but agreed with a local friend that he'll look after the cache if neccesary.
