Barrel Mill Traditional Geocache

This cache is temporarily unavailable.

RedHiker: Hi Kealia,

When cache owners update the coordinates of their caches, it generates an automatic coordinate review message for the reviewers. Unfortunately, Your new location puts you too close to this cache: GCAN8DP: Don't Fall (Creek) In!.

You need to move your cache at least 528 feet from any other geocache, or it will need to be archived.

Thanks

Geocache Description:

JeremyUPDATED 9/22/04: This cache has been visited by Jeremey himself!
-- "..a fun hike on a gorgeous day."

This cache is an ammo can deep into Fall Creek Park and is in a wonderfully peaceful and seldom used trail/spot. Child friendly if they are up for the hike, but no dogs (even on leash) or bikes. Park hours are 6:00am - sunset.

The best parking for this cache is the same as Big Ben and Lost Camp: 37º 04.225 / 122º 07.464 or you can park at the mian parking lot on Felton Empire Road. Your hike to this cache from my parking coords is about 2.2 miles and luckily it's downhill all the way to the cache. Yes, this means it's uphill all the way back....Smiley Face. The elevation change is about 800 feet.

This is a GREAT area with many old pieces of the Barrel Mill lying around. I'm impressed that this area has lasted like it has - must be because of the hike! I always enjoy just closing my eyes and imagining what these types of places were like when they were operational.

Like our other caches here, you could do this one with just a park map (I'll post one when I can find a decent one) and a compass. Not a bad idea to have them handy as signals can be tough here.

I've made the hint easy enough so that you can find the cache if your GPS is having reception trouble.
The hint assumes that you are standing at the site down by the creek reading the sign about the barrel production.
