Geocache Description:

Note: The coordinates given do not make sense. To find this cache, you must first find
Bernhard #37: Adventure and Eldorado.

Top photo: New box installed, September 2020.
Lower photo: The original box (and CO's first GPSr in 2004.

Johannes Dahls skatt er skjult høyt oppe i en ukjent ås. For å finne den, må du først finne Bernhard #37: Adventure and Eldorado. For inspirasjon anbefales Johannes Dahls erindringsbok fra 1942, Nordmarka. Eventyr og eldorado.

Cachen er en amerikansk ammobox (liten størrelse). Innhold ved fornyelse i 2020:

Elegant loggbok og skrivesaker
Tre pakker papirlommetørklær
Fire nye (forseglede) CD-plater: Jon Dahl-Johansen: Fri, Helga Myhr; Natten sveller seg ut, Gudny Aspaas: No stranger
Tore Rem leser Mikkjel Fønhus (bok)
Kjersti Annesdatter Skomsvold leser Aksel Sandemose (bok)
MM karabinkroker
Gul markørpenn
Noen Farris-korker
Noe akuttmedisin mot skogsredsel
Refleks fra Blodbanken
Knapp med engler
Muligens noe annet stash.

Hyggelig om du tar med noen byttegjenstander og logger hva du eventuelt bytter. Husk at dette er en skatt.

OG: Vennligst lukk boksen skikkelig og heng den opp som vist på det øverste bildet.

The following is the original cache description:

The first cache is several kilometers away, while the remaining two plus a bonus mega view microcache are all within a few hundred meters from each other. The mystery is set in one of the wildest and most beautiful parts of northern Nordmarka. The busy road from Svartbekken runs below this area, but higher up everything seems as pristine and untouched as when Johannes Dahl explored it more than a century ago.
Uhh, Johannes who? This cache is dedicated to Johannes Dahl, an author, officer and hiker whose little book "Nordmarka - eventyr og eldorado" offers insights into hiking and skiing in the Nordmarka in the decades around 1900.
The "Treasure"-word is of course a metaphor for Nordmarka itself and its natural riches. Nonetheless, this cache is one of the biggest geocaching treasures ever hidden in Norway, in both value and volume terms. By trading upwards, you will contribute to an ever-growing trasure in honor of this little-known pioneer hiker and skier.

The first finder will have access to a substantial amount of trading items, including several geocoins and travel bugs, and may learn the secrets of Bernhard #33: Shrine, which is hidden in another part of Oslomarka.
Despite the virtues of being first to find, do yourself a bigger favor by visiting on a clear day.
The cache is a large Curver Rubbermaid container, secured with a classic "Norgesreima" ski strap. It is wrapped in plastic bags and rests on another plastic container. The cache has the Mark of the Moose.
Intital contents:

  • "Lynx" logbook from Latvia
  • Pencils and pens
  • Johannes Dahl's book
  • Chinese mirror jewellery box with US Geocoin, 2 Canadian Geocoins, fancy tie clip from "RestRoomOne", glass candies from various Alma caches, psychedelic hairpin from "Tricky Junction".
  • Clas Ohlsson Swiss Army Knife
  • 1912 Stockholm Olympics mechanical Swatch
  • Soviet Army chain watch
  • Nokia car charger LCH-9
  • Sweet smell of money air freshener (sealed)
  • Moose droppings (not sealed)

  • A dog from "Micro Magic Vollen"

Inside the Johannes Dahl book are a bookmark, a sticker and a post-it note - essential equipment to recycle the book via BookCrossing. Finder(s) of the book may do so or choose not to, at their discretion. You can also take the BookCrossing stuff as trading items if you plan to release another book.

Inside the lid of the cache are coordinates for a bonus mystery cache, Bernhard #39 It's Yours, Too. It is a mega view micro cache. To find it, refer to the description of that cache. The bonus mystery can be solved on site as long as Johannes Dahl's book is in the cache. But any finder may grab the book, requiring future finders to study the book in advance if they want the bonus.

Although Johannes Dahl is the theme of this cache, it is also dedicated to Bernhard Herre (1812-1849), the first urban dweller to explore the hills above the city and write beautifully about them.
