If you follow the river from the south you will notice the small allotments where city dwellers magically turn into farmers every weekend. The fruit (excuse the pun) of their work looks fairly impressive in places and is bound to taste better than the imported supermarket stuff.
It seems surprising that this friendly community has had strong objections against the building of the footpath as this document shows. I am very glad that a compromise has been found so that we now have an uninterrupted Water of Leith Walk (to place our caches ;) ).
