The tomb of the Unkown Soldier is a small memorial in Lauttasaari, Helsinki. The cache is very near the memorial. Given coordinates point to the location of the cache.
Tuntemattoman sotilaan hauta on pieni muistomerkki Lauttasaaressa. Annetut koordinaatit osoittavat kätkön paikan, joka on hyvin lähellä muistomerkkiä.
The Crimean War reached Finland in 1855, when the Anglo-Franco fleet bombarded Suomenlinna, the sea fortress on the islands just off Helsinki. In connection with this skirmish one soldier fell in the island of Lauttasaari. A small memorial was erected on the place of his grave, which was later called the Tomb of the Unknown soldier. The identity of the soldier is now known. His name is Johan Back and he was born in 1826 in Närpiö in Western-Finland.You don`t need to go to the motorway to get to the cache.
Krimin sota ulottui vuonna 1855 Suomeen, kun englantilais-ranskalainen laivasto pommitti elokuussa Suomenlinnaa. Tämän kahakan yhteydessä kaatui myös Lauttasaaressa 9.8.1855 yksi sotilas. Hänen hautapaikkaansa pystytettiin muistomerkki, jota alettiin myöhemmin kutsua Tuntemattoman sotilaan haudaksi. Hautaa ei enää voida kutsua tuntemattoman sotilaan haudaksi sikäli, että haudassa makaavan henkilöllisyys on voitu selvittää. Hän on vuonna 1826 Närpiössä syntynyt Johan Back.Kätkölle meneminen ei edellytä moottoritiellä liikkumista.
