SHELTER
COORDINATES: N 43° 23.627' W 089° 21.983'
COST: Free (donations will be accepted
and welcomed)
Registration closed August 18th.
Please register no later than August 10th, so that we can have enough materials ready for everyone.
Event check in starts at 9 A.M. and ends at 11:30 A.M. (Basically, you don't
have to show up at 9 A.M. but you must arrive by 11:30 A.M. to claim the event
as a 'find'.) This is a family event, and all participants are requested to act
accordingly. Pets are allowed in this park and have special pet areas throughout
the park. This event will be held rain or shine.
We'll have the grills going for
you. The WGA plans to have donations of bottled water and some soda available.
But at this point, we're not sure how much or what varieties of soda will be
donated.
What to bring for the picnic: Your own meat to grill, table setting for
you and your family (or guests), lawn chairs in case we run out of table space,
and a food item to pass. Because everyone will be bringing food, please don't
bring a large amount (enough to serve a group equivalent in size to your group
is sufficient) as we want to minimize the amount of food that is left over at
the end of the picnic.
To ensure we get a variety of foods, please bring an item
based on your last name, as shown below:
Last name A-H: salad, fruit, and/or
vegetables
Last name I-P: chips, pretzels, and/or snacks
Last name Q-Z: dessert
The WGA is looking for donations of bottled water, soda, ice and charcoal. If
you would like to donate any of these items, please post a note in the volunteers
needed thread on the forums on wi-geocaching.com.
We are planning on hiding
approximately 20 temporary caches this year and there are currently six existing
muti-caches in this immediate area. (If you are interested in helping with the
temp hide placements please either let Ms. WISearcher know or post on the volunteers
needed thread on wi-geocaching.com)
For cache hunting: Be sure to bring your
GPS receiver. If you don't own a GPS receiver, you can be on a team with others
and find out what geocache hunting is all about.
FRS radios: If you have FRS
radios, bring them along so you can communicate with each other efficiently.
(taunting and cheering are also acceptable and encouraged); FRS channel 7 will
be used. We plan to have the FRS repeater system going as well.
Drawing for
prizes! Each team that attends will receive a door prize ticket upon arrival.
You'll receive a chance at winning one of the donated door prizes to be given
away in a drawing at 5:00 P.M. during the wrap-up (you must be present to win).
If you have items that you would like to donate for the raffle please let The
Lil Otter know as she will be organizing the donations.
After the drawings we will
be taking a group photo. All are encouraged to stay for the photo so that we can
show what an awesome group of people we had attend our event!
More information
to come: We are still in the planning stages, so more event details will be
worked out in the coming weeks.
We will keep everyone who registers for the
picnic informed via either email updates or forum posts. We are all looking
forward to a great event filled with caching, friends, food and fun!!!!
