Geocache Description:

Situated in the Goat Buttes of Malibu Creek State Park. Elevation is 1122’.

This is a fun complement, if not a companion, to the Malibu Micro (GCDDA0). And only slightly larger. I first scrambled to this summit last year while rambling in the area, just before visiting that cache. The lovely top (aka “Lemus Point”) has expansive views and solitude, perfect for a picnic.

The most reasonable approach is by an unmarked use trail from the southeast. Look for it near the Rock Pool. There are several footpaths in the area, so part of the fun and difficulty rating is in finding the proper one. Slick and quite steep in places, you need good footwear for this scramble and will often use handholds. But there is no brush and little exposure. The route then tops out and follows the bare ridge to the highpoint. Please refrain from placing rock cairns or ducks.

Possible trailheads are off Mulholland Highway at Crag Road and parking closer within the park. It is about three miles and 800 ft gain roundtrip from the highway.

To confirm your visit, email me the word(s) written inside the lid. The Curiously Strong container holds a small log, pencil and geonote. A modest prize awaits the first to find, with trinkets for those that follow. The cache is placed unobtrusively below the summit. You will have to reach for it. Please rehide it the same way.

It is unlikely that you will encounter anyone else up here. Enjoy!
