Geocache Description:

This cache is located near the Big Creek Baldy Lookout tower. You will have a 20-30 minute walk on a gated road that is in very good condition. The road is steep in some spots and you will have an overall elevation gain of around 450 feet.

Big Creek Baldy Lookout is a 41 foot wooden tower that was built in 1928 and is at an elevation of 5768 feet. The original cabin that was built along with the lookout is still standing. From the lookout you will be able to view the northern portion of the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness, Pipe Creek drainage, Turner Mountain ski area, Lake Koocanusa, and the Yaak valley. To get to the lookout you will need to walk approximately one mile on a road that is gated year round. However, this lookout is part of the US Forest Service Lookout rental system, so there may be people staying at the lookout tower. Because of this the cache was not placed directly at the tower. The cache container is a 7 inch tall clear round plastic container.

The original contents of the cache are:
-Calculator
-Small deck of cards
-Sewing kit
-Shark key chain
-Bag of gems
-Padlock
-Re-usable ice pack
-Kids comb and brush set
-Log book and pencils
