You can park at N42 41.899 W072 07.995. There is a trail leading
generally south for part of the way, but it is quite overgrown.
At the coordinates listed above you'll find a plastic shoebox
containing copies of directions for finding the second stage. The
last copy is heat-sealed, please don't take it. Also, make sure the
copy you take is *destroyed* when you're done.
The second stage is much like the first. Same container, same
copies of directions. The final stage is an ammo can.
As the crow flies, it is four miles from the first stage to the
final stage. It's about a half mile to the first stage from any
road. I estimate six to seven miles of walking to do it all on
foot.
Also, care has been taken that you do not have to cross private
land to do this cache either on foot or with a car.
The first stage is at or near the site of the Reynolds Mine in
Royalston, MA, where many Aquamarine, Beryl and other semi-precious
stones were mined long ago. See
http://www.mindat.org/loc-15267.html for more (scant)
information.
