The cache is near where we go to watch the big surfing competition held annually (waves permitting) at Mavericks. This is on the cliff above the small airport north of Half Moon Bay. The actual surfing contest takes place about a half mile off shore. The views are terrific, trails many and fairly poison-oak-free, and it is a good place for the dogs to run. There are accesses to a beach and some tide pools in the reserve (check the tide chart first). There are also several nearby caches. The cache is in a small camouflaged medicine bottle, holding the usual small, tradable, geo items.As to the name of this cache: the Owl wanted to call it "Bret and Bart's Lookout", after the show from the late 1950's called "Maverick". Our niece, still working on her geocache name, wanted to call it "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" from the song that Maverick and Goose sang in the movie, "Top Gun". The compromise was "Bret and Bart's Lovin' Feeling." WHEN YOU WALK TO THE CACHE SITE, PLEASE DO NOT STRAY TOWARD THE OCEAN. IT IS OFTEN FOGGY UP THERE. HOLD ON TO SMALL CHILDREN AND LEASH YOUR DOG IF IT IS SQUIRRELLY. THE CLIFF OVERHANGS THE OCEAN IN PLACES AND WE DON’T WANT YOU TO FALL!! The cache is located away from the ocean cliff. To see the Maverick site the best, stand on the cliff, but be careful.
