This cache is in a Tupperware-type container and the original contents are: Package of post-it-notes, a pair of ladies socks, Lypsyl, a package of scented tea-lights, transistor radio with batteries, official GPS bumper sticker, official GEO bumper sticker, hair elastics, a Canadian GeoCoin, and the log book along with a couple of pencils and sharpener.
HOW D' VINE
The Okanagan Valley in the southern interior of British Columbia has a booming wine industry and its VQA wines are fast becoming recognized throughout the world at both National and International Wine Festivals. Local vintners are bringing home gold, silver and bronze medals and the Okanagan Valley is now producing wines comparable to those found in the Napa Valley in the US, the Rhine and Mosel River Valleys of western Germany, and the Hunter Valley in Australia. And so, for this Cache, we wanted to take you on a little tour of some of the fantastic wineries in our area; we want you to wander their vineyards or take a guided tour, taste some of their exceptional wines in their wine shop/tasting rooms, have a meal or snack at one of their wonderful patio restaurants and take in the beautiful views overlooking the Okanagan Valley, and then maybe purchase a bottle of wine, or two, from each vineyard to enjoy at home. We'll give you your GPS co-ordinates for the first winery and from that location you'll have to calculate the co-ordinates for the 2nd winery. There (at the 2nd winery) you'll find the clues for the 3rd winery and, again, once you've reached the 3rd winery you'll be able to calculate the global positioning for the 4th and final winery. But wait!! You still won't be done. You still have to find the cache! The calculations for your final co-ordinates to the cache will have to be worked out at the last winery. Have fun and enjoy!

Winery # 1:
This particular winery was voted "Winery of the Year" at the 2002 Canadian Wine Awards and has a wine shop/tasting room that's open throughout the year. Tours start May 1st and run through the summer and into the fall wine festival. There is a restaurant (Vineyard Terrace) open for the season from mid June for light lunches and tapas. To calculate the co-ordinates for your next winery, answer the following questions and equations:

Winery # 2:
This winery is "the most visited winery in Canada" and the wine shop/tasting room is open daily all year. Tours are also conducted each day throughout the year. The restaurant has both indoor seating and a sunset veranda overlooking Lake Okanagan and the valley, and is open year-round. To calculate your co-ordinates for the next winery, answer these questions and do the math:

Are you having fun yet? Enjoying the wine tasting and views? Well, you're only half done.....so get back in your car and drive to the other side of town following your new co-ordinates that you've just figured out.
Winery # 3:
This winery is almost directly across the lake from the last two you've visited, and the wine shop/tasting room is found in an old log house, originally the Allison Homestead, which was built in 1873. John and Susan Allison moved into their new home on Christmas Eve of that year. The African Acacia trees planted out front have been there almost as long. The Old Vine Patio Restaurant is an outdoor facility only and is open for lunch in the spring (weather permitting) and then lunch and dinner during the summer months. The wine shop is open daily year round, with tours beginning at the end of April. This winery boasts some very prestigious awards including:
The 2001 Pinot Noir won best Pinot Noir in Canada held in Toronto at the All Canadian Wine Awards.
The 2001 Pinot Noir also won "gold" at the Grand Harvest Awards in Santa Rosa, California
There were three gold awards given to B.C. wines at Santa Rosa and they were all produced by this winery.

Winery # 4:
At this last winery the clues you'll be gathering will help you to locate the cache that, by the way, is close by; you won't have to move your car from the parking lot. This winery hosts hour-long tours throughout the year and their wine shop/tasting room is also open year-round. The patio restaurant is el fresco only and open May 1st each season when it's open from 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. From June 1st to August 31st the restaurant hours extend from 11:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
