This cache has been archived.

Nomex: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

A coastal walk with some fascinating history

This area (the Kurnell peninsular) is rapidly becoming a caching hotspot, however up until now most of the caches have been best accessed from the Southern carpark. This one is best approached from the North. Of course you could always make a day of it and park at either end and do the round trip - at the time this cache was planted there were at least 6 in the area with more planned.

There is a trail that approaches the cache site from the West also but I have not investigated this.

This cache is planted in an area known as the Tabbigai Gap. From the cache site you will have a good view of the cliffs where fisherman built their shacks during the Depression. Remnants of their dwellings can still be seen. Click on the link to read more about the Tabbigai Cliff Dwellers.

The cache is only about a 15 minute walk from the Northern car park - a park entrance fee of $6 must be paid to gain access. The trails can be a little confusing in this area but if you stay close to the cliffs you can't go wrong (unless you are stupid).

You may need to do a little bit of climbing to access the cache, but nothing too strenuous or dangerous. If you really think you are about to plummet to your death on the jagged rocks below then you are in the wrong place.

A First Finder's prize of a Sharp Electronic Organizer (batteries not included) awaits some lucky cacher.

The soundtrack to this cache can be heard at the Drunken Gunmen MP3 site.
