Geocache Description:

Once again, the cache is NOT at the coordinates listed above.

It's time for the San Diego area geocachers to bust out the slide rules, calculators, a text book or two and your geocaching skills. Barring that, you can regress back to some (easy?) 9th grade math. It's geometry time for the geocacher! From the information and the coordinates provided below, you will have to determine the actual location of the cache.

In a triangle, the three altitudes of the triangle intersect at a point called the orthocenter. The orthocenter for the triangle with vertices A,B,and C in the image below is the red point labeled O.

I have placed the geocache at the orthocenter of the triangle defined by the three coordinates below:

  1. N 32° 49.002' W 117° 18.601'
  2. N 32° 51.762' W 117° 05.828'
  3. N 32° 40.987' W 117° 10.772'
Please note that the coordinates provided at the top of the page are not the location of the cache. The cache container is a glass jar covered in duct tape, and well hidden. There is little ground cover at the final location, so you'll have to look close to the ground to find it. Please be discreet when replacing the cache. Onlookers may wonder what you are doing. Enjoy!
