Geocache Description:

The posted co-ordinates should put you in what was for over 3 decades, possibly the most famous television "street" in Australia, particularly if you are from Australia or England. As you can see though, you should be quite safe from traffic.

This cache should be quite simple and most people might already know the show. Therefore, to log the cache, you need to e-mail me the answers to the following three questions:

  1. What is the name of the TV show?
  2. What is the actual (or real) name, in full, of the carriageway in which you are standing?
  3. On the power pole outside the (real) number 5, there is a 7-digit number in black letters on a yellow background (about 2-3 metres above the ground). What is that number?
As usual, please don't post the answers on the site, even if they are encrypted.

You may log your find without waiting for a response from me however, I do check all answers. A few pointers though:
  • If you are incorrect, I will most likely contact you to check your results.
  • If you do not supply any answers at all, I will have to delete your log.
  • If you are responding on behalf of several visiting teams, please list all team names to which the answers apply so that I don't hassle the other teams for not answering the questions. Of course, it is a rule of the game that all teams must have visited the site of the cache to get the smiley so no naughty armchair logging.

At the time of posting (2004), the show was still in production with no end in sight. Alas, that is no longer the case and the finale aired on Network 10 in Australia on 28 July 2022, watched by 1.2 million live viewers. In the UK, the finale was viewed by over 4 million viewers once recordings and catch-up were taken into account (source: Wikipedia).

Access to the "street" shouldn't be the problem it once was to obtain the answer to Q3 although security guards are still on hand for the time being.

Now production has finished, the relevance of the cache will diminish over time and I will assess the options for keeping it in the future. For the time being though, please enjoy. 😁
