Yosemite’s latest entry on the National
Register of Historical Places, Site #03000056. "During the period
1947 to 1970, the ‘golden years,’ Yosemite Valley was
an exceptionally important center of rock climbing activity.
Advancements and skills developed here made significant
contributions at the regional, national, and international level
within the sport. Warren Harding, Tom Frost, Royal Robbins, and
Yvon Chouinard were amoung the pioneers who developed equipment and
techniques, and forged new routes. A mecca for rock climbers, they
used Camp 4 as a base camp."
