Start at the east end of Indian School in the open space parking lot. The hike to the cache gains 1600 feet in 1.7 miles.
Just a Little Further
N 35° 06.806 W 106° 28.109 (WGS 84)
Elevation: 7885 ft.
The cache is about a 1.7-mile hike one-way and 0.18 miles a little further up the trail from the BoulderDash Cache. This cache was established because of laziness. I was taking a new ammo can and log book to the BoulderDash Cache when I found that it had been moved further up the mountain and the cache container and log book had been replaced. I decided sense I had carried this ammo can 1400 feet up the mountain already that I should go just a little further and establish a new cache instead of carrying it back down. You’ll climb about 1600 feet in elevation from the parking lot at the end of Indian School to reach this cache (just a little further than BoulderDash). The views are very nice and different than the BoulderDash Cache views. There are several ways to approach this cache; the easiest way is to start from the open space parking lot at the end of Indian School. There are several social trails and game trails in the area. You might want to look at Arroyo Boulder Hike Cache for a description of one of the routes. You need to negotiate this maze of trails to N 35 06.696 W 106 28.404 which marks a good trail. The key point is to be on this good trail at N 35 06.696 W 106 28.404 heading east up the mountain. From this point the trail gets steep and there is some loose granite gravel on the trail. You will pass by BoulderDash Cache before arriving at Just a Little Further. If you want a longer hike you can continue just a little further to Oso Pass Cache and then just a little further to Deer Pass Cache. That should be a full day but you could log 5 geocaches (Arroyo Boulder Hike, BoulderDash, Just a Little Further, Oso Pass, and Deer Pass) and about 11 miles round trip.
Just a Little Further Cache is not far off of the trail. The best way to approach it is to stay on the trail until the cache is a few feet away and south of you. Follow a small trail down the hill (south) and by two fire pits. Keep to the west of the highest boulders. You will squeeze through a narrow area between a boulder and pinon tree. Right after this point you should see the live pinion with an almost horizontal trunk. It was 70 of my steps from the main trail to the cache. Again stay on the west side of the ridge when making the final approach to the cache.
My wife sure gets tried of hearing just a little further.
