An easy walk to dunes by the Firth of Forth
This and three other caches (Berwick Law, Hopetoun Monument and the Bonus Cache) form the East Lothian Quartet. As well as logging your find at each cache, take a note of the part coordinates for the Bonus Cache from the laminated card. Please DO NOT remove the card from the cache.
A stone cairn at the car park commemorates the fact that Nigel Tranter walked the coastline daily between 1909 and 2000. The first part of this walk passes through a nature reserve, and the second part meanders through the sand dunes.
Cross the bridge over the water and look out for the many waterbirds as you pass through the nature reserve. NO DOGS allowed in the reserve. There is no need to leave the main path through the dunes until you are approximately within 0.1 mile of the cache. Roe deer are commonly seen here. The cache is about a mile from the car park and it will take roughly 20 mins to get to the spot. Continue over the dunes to roam on a wonderful wide beach.
