Geocache Description:

This is a camera cache located on the Northwest side of Fort Wayne and is the first camera cache in the Fort Wayne area.

This is a camera cache, which requires the coordination of two people - one at the webcam cache site and one at a computer (with internet access). There is no physical cache. In order to claim a find on this cache, you must post a picture taken by the webcam of you at the cache site.

This cache will take you to a relatively underdeveloped industrial park. The camera is located INSIDE a business NEAR the coordinates above. It will be up to you to find the camera, figure out where it happens to be pointing (it does change from time to time) and get into the picture. And yes, I do have permission to use the business's camera for a cache and you have permission to hunt it (the IT manager has hunted a few caches himself).

The difficulty rating is due to the need for coordinating efforts, getting yourself placed in the right spot, and saving/uploading the photo. The terrain is wheelchair-accessible (depending on where the camera is pointing).

Special instructions for this cache: The cache is best done in the daytime (picture is almost non-existent at night). Also, a mobile phone is almost (though not absolutely) essential for doing this cache.

Before you can grab the photo, you need to make sure Windows Media Player is configured properly to take a webcam snapshot
Open Window Media Player
Then go to Tools > Options (you may have to press the Alt key to get to the Tools menu)
In Options, select the Performance Tab
Click the Advanced Button
Clear the "Use Overlays" checkbox
Click OK twice to close the Options and then close Windows Media Player
Open the webcam page at http://www.adaptivemicro.com/webcam

Once Windows Media Player is configured properly, follow these step-by-step instructions to grab the photo:

This procedure is for Windows XP and Vista users.
1. When you open the webcam page, DO NOT choose the link to open the player outside your browser. This procedure will only work if the video is running on the web page.
2. Have the person(s) who will be having their picture taken go to the coordinates listed above. Position yourself facing the camera.
3. Have the person at the computer go to the Adaptive Micro-Ware webcam page (http://www.adaptivemicro.com/webcam). The camera provides a live feed (constantly updating), though it has about a 5 to 15 second delay. The camera requires Windows Media Player version 6.4 or later to view. Do not go at night because you will not see anything through the camera.
4. The person at the computer should then be able to see the person at the cache site. The picture must show YOU, not your vehicle. Passing by the camera in a vehicle will not be accepted as a find.
5. Press the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard to copy an image of your desktop to the clipboard.
6. Open Microsoft Paint (it's in your Accessories) and click Edit->Paste.
7. Use the Select tool (the dotted rectangle) to select only the webcam photo portion of what you pasted in and then choose Edit->Copy to copy only the selected portion to the clipboard.
8. Choose File->New to create a blank image, you will be asked if you want to save the image you've been working on, choose NO.
9. When the blank image opens, choose Edit->Paste to paste the snapshot into Microsoft Paint.
10. From the File menu choose Save and save the file to your hard drive. When specifying the file name choose JPEG as the file type.
11. Go to Geocaching.com and upload this file with your "Find" post on this page. "Finds" posted without a webcam photo will not be accepted.

Good luck and have fun!!
