The above coordinates are not the
coordinates of the cache, although they are within 2 miles of
it. To find the location of the cache, you must solve the
puzzle below.
Bykenut's friend, BykeGeek, has just bought a new bicycle.
Wanting to produce her perfect dream bike, BykeGeek hand picked all
the components for her new bicycle. The steel frame with chrome
lugs was custom built by a well known local frame builder and was
painted to a bright candy apple red. Italian components were used
were possible. Being a retro-grouch, she chose to use a leather
saddle and downtube friction shifting instead of those new anatomic
saddles and integrated brake shifters..
Gearing was especially important to BykeGeek. She knew which
gear inches she typically rode in, so she tediously calculated
which combinations of gears would best fit her riding style and
local terrain. The drive train of the bicycle consisted of 27 inch
wheels, triple chainring in the front (54-50-15), ten speed
cassette in the rear (9-11-16.5 (yep, that's sixteen and a half - a
little strange) - 17-21-25-28-30-34-37), and custom made front and
rear deraillers to accommodate the wide range of gears.
To get used to her new bike gearing, BykeGeek made up a little
table for her gear inches and taped it to her handlebar stem. A
portion of the gear chart looked like this:

BykeGeek decided to ride to one of her favorite ice cream shops
to test out her new bike. She rode north on Varsity Drive in her
easy 15 x 11 gear, climbed west up Schwinn Street in her very low
15 x 34 gear, continued climbing west up Huffy Hill in her low 15 x
28 gear, raced north down Paramount Place in her very high 50 x 9
gear, cruised west on Columbia Court in her 50 x 16.5 gear, easily
spun north on Black Phantom Parkway in her 54 x 30 gear, and then
finally went west on Murray Mile in her comfortable 54 x 17 gear.
BykeGeek arrived at the ice cream shop, happy with her new bike and
looking forward to treating herself to a mint chocolate chip ice
cream cone.
The cache is in a camouflaged waterproof smallish, but not quite
micro, flat container and contains a first to find prize along with
a couple of small flat trade items, geocache note and logsheet.

9/10/2004 update - The original cache is either missing or in a
disgusting location. The cache has been replaced with a film
canister wrapped in camo tape. The cache coordinates are the same
but the hiding location has changed.
1/18/2005 update - The second cache went
missing (probably by the gardeners). The cache has been replaced
with a hide a key container. The cache coordinates are the same but
the hiding location has changed. The new location is harder to find
than the first one, so the location hint is very
specific.
