Geocache Description:

Kevo Canyon is well known in Finland - but have you heard about Fiellukordsi?
It's one of the "must visit" locations in Kevo Strict Nature Reserve.

Kevo Canyon is the greatest canyon in Finland. It is over 40 kilometers long and in some places over 100 meters deep. Canyon itself is worth seeing, but this time you will have to find an interesting part of it. It is called Fiellukordsi. When you approach it, you can hear it roaring from kilometers away in otherwise silent wilderness. It is also one of the biggest of it's kind in Finland.

To log your visit, you must submit a photo of you AND your GPSr in front of Fiellukordsi to this page. No exceptions, defective loggings will be deleted.

Remember that hiking in Kevo Canyon is restricted to paths only and some parts of the area is totally closed in some times of the year.

Time restrictions:

Ravine: You may ski in ravine area between 16.10. - 31.3. Between 1.4 - 14.6 it is strictly forbidden to enter ravine. And between 15.6. - 15.10 you may hike in ravine, but only in marked paths.

Fjeld area: You may ski in fjeld area between 16.10 - 30.4. Between 1.5. - 15.10 you may hike in fjeld area but only in marked paths.

Other rules: see in Finnish or in English.

Remember that Fiellukordsi is very far from nearest roads, so you need a lot of planning before, several days of time and good equipment for hiking.

Fiellukordsi is marked with red star in the map.

P.S. Remember also that Kevo is a Strict Nature Reserve, and you can not place a physical "vacation" cache to the area. So if you want to place physical caches in Lapland, you have to choose some other locations.
