Geocache Description:

Situated along the River of Almond Walkway

Cramond village lies at the mouth of the River Almond as it flows into the Firth of Forth. Cramond means 'Fort upon the Almond' and was an important Roman station. There is a Roman fort in the village. The small white cottages were homes to mill workers.

The River Almond Walkway follows the river upstream for 1.5 miles to Cramond Brig on the A90. The walkway is accessible from here, or park in the carpark in Cramond village at N55 58.778 W003 17.943 next to Cramond Inn (great for refreshments). Another small carpark is at N55 58.473 W003 18.272, but is likely to be crowded in the warmer weather.

There used to be a 'ferry' across the river, which had the distinction of being the shortest ferry crossing in the UK. Unfortunately, the corssing has ceased to function since this cache was placed.

The cache is hidden along the River Almond Walkway, approximately halfway between Cramond and the A90.
