General George Clinton Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

trixiegrime: Well, this cache had a great run...I am so disappointed that people get off on destroying these just to have an ammo can. This was my first cache, NY was where I first began caching which led me to hiking. Thanks to you all for posting and looking and enjoying. I live in TN and am unable to restore this cache. Are there any takers? Happy Caching!

Geocache Description:

This cache was placed to draw you to an interesting historical landmark. Although short, there is a brief steep hill. Enjoy the footbridge!

We liked this spot because it gives you a different perspective of the Bear Mountain Bridge and a nice view of Anthony's nose. It's historical significance is more valuable than we imagined. Please stay and visit the park. Special permission was granted for this cache, so please respect the property (i.e., no illegal digging for artifacts, stay on trails, etc.). The cache is filled with mostly military related items and we would prefer if it would stay as that theme, but completely understand if, over time, it doesn't. There is a disposable camera that we would like for you to use for one shot then leave behind for the next person. Be creative.

There is actually more than one way to this cache. Parking for this park is located .2 miles down the road from park entrance. However, it can also be accessed via Bear Mountain Museum. The gate that leads to the trail from the museum is not always open, though.
