Top of the Notch Traditional Geocache

Cache is on top of Mt. Bare which is part of the holyoke range.
Park at the notch visitor’s center on rt. 116. Cross the road to the white marked metacomet-monadnock trail and follow it to the top. It’s a steep, rocky hike but it’s on a well-used trail. At the top you’ll have a great north-south view of the pioneer valley. to the north at the bottom of the mountain you’ll see a paved area with a couple of buildings. This was the entrance to a strategic air command base that is built underneath the mountain.
Cache is a 11*7*2 tupperware container with a log and the usual cache stuff. No rock climbing involved. It’s on flat ground.
