Geocache Description:

A reasonably short detour off the Hume highway about 60kms south of Yass.

Please note. When this cache was originally placed there was no blackberry bush. It has grown in the last few years. If and when I get a chance I may come out and relocate this cache. Sorry for the prickles....

A popular tourist destination situated in the upper catchment of the Murrumbidgee. A place for boating, water skiing, fishing, swimming and now Geocaching.
At the time this place was constructed the Lands minister of the day, the Hon Arthur Griffith was of the view that the use of the name Barren Jack in the enabling legislation had dismal connotations for a scheme of great fertility and one which sought to attract settlers from Australia and overseas.
So a new name was chosen which was a better rendering of the original Aboriginal name.
To find out the new name please visit the area, take a picnic and spend the day enjoying this interesting place.

The local senary is very rugged , but the cache is accessible by car. Its just off the road. So there are no hard hills to climb.

Also as a favour to me. After you have visited the cache please go down to the park office and ask what % level the #*$ is at and report it in the log note. The day I was there it was 31%.

BTW, I'm just stumped where anybody would hide a cache around here
