Geocache Description:

This cache is NOT located at the posted coordinates (which mark the nearest legal parking). To find the cache, you must gather clues from the other four Aesop's Fables caches, all of which utilize the same parking area.

Aesop's Villa by the Sea
Many years ago there lived a very wise old man named Aesop, whose sage advice was highly prized throughout all the lands. Although Aesop has long since passed away, much of his wisdom is preserved in the form of the fables (allegorical stories) which he wrote. These tales serve to entertain as well as instruct, and survive to this very day.

As a reward for faithful service and excellent counsel during his long life, the King presented Aesop with a great treasure. Choosing a scenic location by the seaside, Aesop used some of his treasure to construct a beautiful villa with spacious grounds, gardens, and a wonderful mansion. Here, the old man lived a full and happy life, and was visited often by colleagues, friends, students, and seekers of wisdom. At last, knowing that death was near, Aesop concealed what remained of his fabulous treasure in a cache somewhere about the grounds of the villa, proclaiming that it would only be discovered by careful study of four of his famous fables - 'The Rustic Temple of the Wind', 'Neptune and the Fisherman', 'An Asp in the Garden of Birds', and 'The Ruined Palace of Jupiter'.

Aesop's villa itself has long since fallen into ruin, yet his treasure may still be found by those who seek the wisdom of the fables. If you would gain the final, secret cache of Aesop's Villa by the Sea, you must first find the four Fable caches which are located on the villa's grounds. Each of the Fable caches contains a single clue, and when you combine those four clues, you will have all the knowledge necessary to lead you to the final cache of Aesop's Villa by the Sea. This final cache is a large, traditional container with plenty of room for trading items.

The four Fable caches which contain the necessary clues for this final cache may be hunted in any order. Parking for all the Aesop's caches is located at the posted coordinates for this cache (no cache is hidden there). Begin any Aesop's cache by parking on Hazel Street (coordinates listed above). A brief walk south down Lake Avenue, then east on Sycamore will lead you to the entrance to the site of Aesop's ancient villa at (N 42° 10.964 ~ W 87° 47.037).

The grounds of the villa are extensive, but close at sundown, so please don't attempt any of the caches at night! Restrooms and drinking water are not available (although there is a pay telephone near 'Jupiter's Ruined Palace'). Dogs are prohibited from some of the area. The grounds of Aesop's Villa make a wonderful location for a picnic; bring your lunch and nurture body as well as soul.
