A virtual cache seemingly in the middle of nowhere, but actually a spot drenched in history – here was a Pony Express Station, where Brigham Young camped 2 weeks before declaring Salt Lake as “This is the Place”, and the site of the original railroad bed of the Transcontinental Railroad (that’s the road you’ll ride on). And, it’s in a beautiful area.
There are a dozen virtual caches based on plaques sponsored by the Daughters of Utah Pioneers but most of them are in southern Utah, so we were surprised to locate this one in Wyoming. Find it, read about the area’s history and answer this question: Who was the Eagle scout whose project this was in 1998? Email us (please don’t post the answer on the web page) and you’ll keep the credit for finding the cache!
Continue down the road to the big beehives and a ghost town.
