This cache is one of a series of five virtual caches. Collect and claim each one, decode the clues and they will point you to a sixth VERY unusually situated regular cache in keeping with the overall idea of the journey....

The Summit to Sea venture was dreamt up by a friend and fellow outdoor enthusiast, Hamish. The idea was that a group of invited friends would set off from the SUMMIT of Ben MacDui on a summers morning and then run down into the Lairig Ghru. From here, the Lairig path is followed through the pine forest of Rothiemurchus down to the Spey at the Old Bridge in Aviemore. Now, a canoe down the river to the Grantown "bathing pool", where the canoe is swopped for a bike. The "back road" is cycled to Knockandu, Rothes and Mosstodloch, eventually finishing at the SEA at Spey Bay.
The first year of the event, over 20 folk managed to complete, although variations in travelling were allowed - some cycled all the way from Cairngorm, others took mountain bikes through Rothiemurchus, but all finished in under nine hours. (I should know - I was last!!)
You can choose your own method of travelling - some of these caches are extremely easy and can be driven to, others require serious walking. The Summit is a major undertaking for experienced walkers / mountaineers only (depending on the season). However, each cache can be collected and claimed individually - but you can only get the final regular cache by visiting all the others. This last cache requires ingenuity and experience to access - it will be obvious what this is if you manage to work out where it is before setting out.

As the Spey runs into the sea, look around at the natural landscape and also at an impressive sculpture of the osprey. An information board gives some details of this and also of a project carried out by local schoolchildren. Find the 15 words to the osprey haiku.

Extra requirement as of 26 Jan 2009......
You MUST also post a photo of yourself at the cache site with your GPS clearly visible if it isn't your camera as well but WITHOUT the cache info please!
If this additional logging requirement is not carried out, you may have your log deleted. Unfortunately, I must make this extra requirement as there have been a number of armchair cachers making logs who have not even visited Scotland!
