Tripod Rock is one of NJ's natural gems. Its a huge boulder, perched precariously on three smaller boulders. Casual observers will wonder how it managed to stay put for thousands of years.
During my late teen years, I spent many an afternoon sitting on top of this rock with friends, a six pack and some sandwiches. We'd sit up there the entire afternoon (well OK, I guess we had more than 1 six pack) and rarely see another person.
The area was slated for development and thankfully a group of concerned citizens banded together to save this beautiful area. Eventually the county was able to purchase it. As a downside, Tripod Rock is now a heavily visited area, so please be careful while searching.
This is now small Lock 'n Lock container covered in camo tape. It's not very big so don't bring anything large to trade.
Check out Weird NJ's link for some alternate explanations of this unusual site.
Though this is a small cache, I don't want this to be a "needle in a haystack" search, so check the clue if stumped.
