Geocache Description:

There is only a few place in Budapest, where next to each other you can find so many middle age ruins. (Unfortunatelly only the basewalls. Moreover you can't even go close to them. You can see them only through the fences. This is why this one is only a virtual cache.) The first ruin was a church in the XIII. century in the Árpád age. Because it's so easy to find the place, I don't want to tell anything about how to aproach the place.
You can find the other ruin here:
N 47'31.585
E018'58.905
This was the Hunting castle of King Mathias. When he was here, he visited the church too.
The recovering of the ruins was in the 30's of the last century. The building of the cottages near Buda was started around the XV.th century by King Mathias, and II. Ulászló continued theese constructions. The palace was made and planned after the Medici cottage in Poggio Caiano. And at the construction of the Belevedere of Prague this palace was the model. You can read on more in the writeings of Miklós Horler (Ars Hungarica, 1986/1).
The reconstruction was abadoned because there were no more money for this work. What is sad, because theese works could recover a very unique architectural rarity.
This could be the first stop of a raid around Budapest. We did this way at least. :)
Maybe you could find it virtually, but I thik that you shoud come and see it.
