Geocache Description:

Join the rest of the Central Oregon Geocachers for a Mars and Stars Campout at the Pine Mountain Observatory! We'll meet new members, make plans for future local geocache events and get a chance to plan the first geocache on Mars! There will be a multicache included in the event, with the first coordinates at the Parking Lot as listed above.

When: Friday, July 25th Time: 5:30 or thereabouts for Barbeque and Potluck, otherwise arrive at dark for the observatory program. Where: Pine Mountain Observatory, coordinates to be published on the cache site. Sponsor: Mark Dunaway (PMOguy) for COGEO.ORG Funds: $3.00 per person to cover hamburgers and drinks, and $3.00 per person for the observatory donation. Garden burgers will be available.

Come one and all for a great starfest and campout! Mark has arranged for us to enjoy a barbeque and campout at the Pine Mountain Observatory. We'll have a barbeque and potluck beginning around 5:30 or 6:00 and socialize at Mark's place up at the mountain. After dark falls, we'll enjoy peering through the Observatory Telescope for a close up look at Mars and other planets and stars. Mars is currently as close to Earth as it will ever be in this millennium, (and the moon will be dark!) so pray for clear skies and we may get some awesome views of the red planet. You can campout if you wish, or not. Remember, only small red flashlights are allowed on the observatory grounds.

If you are going to campout in anything other than a car and a tent, please contact Mark at ph# 382-8331 so that he can reserve space for you. Well behaved, non barking dogs that are leashed are welcome. Moderate alcohol consumption is up to you. (Although I'm pretty sure that Gapertimmy owes me a microbrew for pulling that Dark Side cache up on Bachelor last fall - the day before I went hunting all over the mountain for it.......:-)

As before, here will be the Potluck assignments:

A - H a side dish of some sort

I - Q chips, salsa and such

R - Z most importantly, Dessert!

Please invite your best geo-buddies, and as always, I am hoping Mr. Snazz will post this on the COGEO.ORG website for me.

To make it easier for Mark, please rsvp back to me so that I can give him a headcount for burgers and the tour. I think if I can hear back from you by the 20th that would be great! Hope to see you there! Katmandu Bring any travel bugs you may have laying around for an exchange......
