This is a memorial dedicated to small town heros of Tishomingo, Oklahoma. (population of approximately 3,200)
On June 1944 one of these men aided in evacuating all surviviors from a sinking destroyer which had sustained mortal damage from 2 enemy suicide squadrons. He saved the lives of several men, despite his wounds, until aid came and relieved him.
There are also monuments to all the wars that men from Tishomingo have served in, from World War I to the Persian gulf war.
