Edge of a playing field in a public park
A cache in this area was planned for some time but I was beaten to it by GCGC86 in the Park while I was still thinking about it. But having found "No More Boats", I was delighted to find the spot I had chosen was just over the 0.1 mile away to be legal so here it is!
In fact this is the second incarnation as the original hiding place was lost and the coordinates are not those of the cache but of somewhere you may wish to sit while you work it out. You will need the makers name from the end plates of where you are and convert this to numbers on the usual A=1,B=2,C=3 . . . basis. Then using the new ABC work out the final coordinates as:
N 53 26.[(C-E)/A][D/3][F/4]
W 02 46.[F-C-E][(F-E)/3][(D+E)/5]
The cache is a 0.45lt snaplock box, and the point of the location is the view - not quite a mountain view but not too bad for an urban location. It is also one of the highest points in St Helens.
It's memories for me are boating and swimming in the lake below and toboganning down the hill.
The name - well it reflects "No More Boats" and is relevant as there used to be an aviary in the nearby quarry.
On the way you may like to visit the children's playground, one of the best I know if the vandals leave it alone or feed the ducks.
