There is an unusually large number of
varied remains from the Bronze Age here in Kasimirsborg. There are
traces of very early agriculture, indicated by areas which have
been cleared of stones, and stones laid in rows.
There are also several kinds of graves, with cairns, stone mounds
and stone caissons. In a few places there are mounds of
fire-damaged stones which can contain household refuse or remains
fo funeral pyres from Bronze Age cremation.
In two places there are small cavities hollowed out of the rock,
something which was done in connection with ritual
cermonies.
In recent years,
archaeologists have found over 6,000 remains from the Bronze Age in
this area, a large proportion are petroglyphs. The area is unique
in Europe.
