Geocache Description:

Cardiff, Wales! Come on down... and have some fun with this webcam cache.

* Cardiff Live! * webcam, Wales

This webcam is situated in Kingsway Street in cardiff - overlooking Cardiff Castle, Bute Park and the Millennium Stadium is not far away. If you are visiting the city, why not get a little geocaching in and bag this webcam cache. Its fun! Look for the Hilton Hotel across the road - see the webcam on top? SMILE :)

To do this Webcam geocache, you will need:
  • GPS
  • Mobile phone
  • Friend behind a computer connected to the Internet and a phone to operate the camera
  • The desire to have your picture taken with the Geocaching logo (optional) posted here

        or

  • You could always do this yourself with a web enabled laptop!

  • Go to the coordinates listed above. This will take you to the intersection of streets shown in the webcam in one of its views. You need to look up to get your face towards the webcam. I suggest the camera operator spend some time practicing and finding the best spot. Try the 'Puzzle' park - see uploaded picture for an example.

  • Call your friend and get them to access the webcam on the Internet. All they have to do is navigate the webcam to find you in your classic pose holding your Geocaching Logo (see uploaded images) page and take a snapshot! Get them to email the photo to you so you can upload it with your log. Thats it!

  • Many thanks to The Artful Dodger who created this and many other webcam caches. Click here to see other webcam caches by him.

THE WEBCAM

(Click to launch)

This webcam is fully user-interactive. To begin control of the camera click the "Start Control" button. Your turn to operate the cam is counted down on the queuing timer. Once it turns green, use the slider bars, click on the image, or try a preset camera position. Its simple to use with a little practice.

All your friend has to do is track you down using the webcam. Once found and you have selected a cool pose with the Geocaching logo (optional), he/she can snap your picture by pressing the mini camera icon at the bottom left corner of the webcam.

This will bring up another screen with the photo. Right click the mouse and Save Picture. Voila! Make sure you get your helper to practice first as popup blockers might need switching off first. Get them to email you the photo, you upload the photo with your log and your 90 seconds of fame is immortalized!

  • Thanks to  St Andrews.com  who operate this brilliant webcam.

  • At times, this webcam may be down for maintenance or repair, or maybe even because too many users are using it! As this is a webcam cache, you will need to come back another day to try again, sorry!

  • With effect from November 1st 2007, all "Webcam Photo Taken" logs without an uploaded WEBCAM photo will be requested to be changed to a "Note". If this is not done, the log will be deleted.  This is a webcam cache and needs a webcam photo. This is not a virtual cache and the difficulty level is set accordingly. The camera needs to be zoomed in on you so you can be seen clearly..
